Renew Your Wooden Floors in Beddington

One family dominated the history of the borough for five hundred years.

If wooden floors haven’t exactly dominated English floor surfaces, they’ve been a constant over the centuries.

How are yours faring? Shabby and marked? Scratched and damaged? The solution is at hand to bring them back to life.

With specialist wood floor repair and restoration from:

The Beddington Floor Sanding Masters

What will we do?

  • realign and reset wobbly boards or blocks
  • replace damaged areas with new or reclaimed timber
  • fill in gaps for an even look if you so desire
  • sanding away old layers of paint or sealant using cylinder machines for a superb smooth finish.

Don’t worry about mess and disruption:

  • We’ll minimise any inconvenience to your domestic or business schedule.
  • By working flexibly at weekends or even overnight.
  • We can also clear large items of furniture or dispose of old carpets.
  • And… 99% dust free sanding – by collecting dust from outside each room.

A new look?

  • We can stain the fresh bare wood of your floor to match your decor. Or create a new brighter modern look – with a white or pale wash stain.

Resealing for protection

Choose your sealant:

  • natural oil for beauty
  • hardwax oil for added wear
  • lacquer for the hardest use. (Today’s lacquers are water-based and totally safe for use in the home and around children and pets.)

All to the highest standards:

  • We only use the very best stains and sealants for a long-lasting surface. Our fully-trained staff complete every job to the smallest detail and the highest degree of workmanship.

After care

The Carew’s Mansion dates from Henry the Eighth’s time – rebuilt by his favourite Nicholas Carew in the 1530s. Anne Boleyn was Nicholas’ cousin and Henry courted her – and later Jane Seymour -here.

Much good it did for Nicholas who was executed for treason at age 43 in 1539. The house was restored to his son in Mary Tudor’s reign.

The school dates from 1837 and the family sold the house in 1859.

The Carew Chapel in St Mary’s Church has brasses to Nicholas of 1432 and his wife; Sir Richard of 1520 and wife; and an alabaster effigy of Sir Francis from 1611.

How the sealer coat seals the deal

Creating a beautiful finish for your floor after sanding is a mixture of science, art and pure alchemy. It’s about selecting the right dye and finish and then adding sealer to the mix to ensure that you maximise your floor’s beauty and durability and minimise any bad reactions that can leave you sanding and finishing your floor all over again.

Minimise the pull of tannins

If tannin is present in your wood floor then it can easily migrate into the finish. The result? Discolouration and even non-adherence of your finish coat. Resinous and oily woods are particularly prone to containing tannin and other extractives, making the use of a sealant imperative.

Minimising unfavourable reactions

When you’ve finished sanding your floor and exposing a layer of raw wood, you may sometimes notice a chemical reaction between the wood and the finish which undoes all your hard work and leaves you with no option but to start floor sanding all over again. A proper sealant will prevent this occurring allowing you to apply the finish coat with complete peace of mind.

The perfect undercoat

By sealing your wood before applying the finish coat, you’ll prepare the wood perfectly for your chosen finish. If you choose not to use a sealer, then the finish will simply keep soaking into the wood costing you time and money. Add a sealer coat and the finish will have the ideal base to provide maximum protection, keeping your wood looking beautiful for longer and maximising the amount of time before you need to reapply the finish or even sand and refinish your floor.

Cut your costs

Applying a sealer means that you’ll save on applying additional coats of finish. Sealer dries quickly too, letting you get on with the job as quickly as possible.

Achieve the ideal colour

A proper sealer and finish protocol not only ensures maximum protection, but also means you’ll be able to achieve exactly the right colour for your floors. The sealer coat will preserve the original colour, allowing you to create on-trend effects like neutral grey or greige, fresh and funky whitewash or rich and sophisticated black with your finish coat.
